Honoring Myself

Photo By Me, Cheryl Larkin One of the things I have been working on in the last few months is truly honoring myself, and respecting my talent and my time. I need to believe that I do have something special to offer with my art, and I am happy to say that I am finally doing it. I am finally believing in my worth. I have struggled with this for various reasons. Painting is such a wonderful, spiritual experience for Continue reading read more »

Changing Energy And Selling A Painting

Photo By Me, Cheryl Larkin Of Painting I Painted I admit it. I got caught up in the routine of life and in other things that were invading my mind and I just plain stopped putting any energy into my painting and my ETSY store. I allowed so many other things to take hold of my energy. I feel like I have maybe slept walked through most of 2015. I mean, I was noticing signs and messages and still working Continue reading read more »

Table on a Shoestring

I am all about doing stuff on the cheap. Take this table I just repainted. It started out as my old, scratched, heat marred, water ringed, dining room table that I had bought at Pier 1 years ago on close out for only $79.00. Over the years kids and grandkids had left their damage. My original plan had been to strip it and then restain. A few months looking through Pinterest changed my mind. First off I had all these cans of Oops! Paint that I had bought at Home Depot and Lowes on clearance. I had... read more »

Day of Museum.

It inspires me. January 2015

New achievements. New inspiration. New views.

Christmas in Oneonta

When I was 19 I moved to Oneonta in upstate New York. In the Mohawk language, Oneonta is believed to mean "place of open rocks" but the people who live there now call it "the city of the hills." Either way, it's a beautiful place to spend a few years. The winters are long and dark in the shadow of those hills but like everywhere else, especially at Christmas, people find a way to bring light to the darkness. I took a painting class while I was in Oneonta and painted this scene of holiday carolers, inclu... read more »

Criminal Minds Using My Painting In An Episode

Photo Taken By Me, Cheryl Larkin, Of A Painting I Painted Talk about a huge surprise for me. I was contacted by an Art Director for the TV Show Criminal Minds. Home Construction, Part X

September 30th, 2013: With most of the carpentry complete, more details on the interior and exterior of the house are starting to be completed. The slate for the entryway has been delivered: Tile in the laundry room, ready to be grouted: Painting has started simultaneously, so there are protective sheets up all over the house. The primer coat of paint in the keeping room gives us an idea of what it will eventually look like. We have chosen a warm, neutral beige, to keep the space open. October 3, 201... read more »

The Countdown

Classes start in eleven days.ELEVEN DAYS.This mean the time for painting is coming to a close, there just won't be time (plus we'll have to deal with harvesting and preserving the garden!). Guess this means summer is coming to a close. {Meanwhile, check out the new website and domain for paintings at: www.graphicallyfrank.com}The anticipation and anxiety have been churning up madness, and we've been doing the best balancing act possible. My heavenly whales and other...

До цього ... read more »

Summer Brief - Animals of Africa: 7. Giraffe

Animals of AfricaFor my summer brief I decided to come up with a series of animals that are commonly found in Africa. For our assignment we have to lie about what we do over the holidays, and I think this fits in well, as I can say I went on a safari and drew the animals I saw there. I've now started adding surfaces/textures to the animals using Brusho, Acylic Paint and a 1.2mm Molotow Black marker. You can find the original drawings of the animals I am working with in the links down below. Giraffe ... read more »

Don't Freak Out, We're Reading Your Tweets

Writing has been slow (because we haven't been doing it), as we've been doing a lot of painting this summer/year - we're working on number ten. The goal for the year is 12, but once classes start again this fall there just won't be time to paint.Painting has also been very therapeutic, as usual. So that's good, and lends to less writing. It's providing a lot of time to think about things...and people...in between trying to get shadows and angles right. But we're not here today to talk about painting, or wr... read more »

Summer: A Garden Update

It's been a month and a half of turbulent weather. For a couple of days most of one of the gardens was under water. It wasn't looking good. But then suddenly everything started to pop. It looks like it's going to a second year of successful gardening. The only problem is that it's been hard to get into the garden and week properly more than once, because of the rain andthe massive amount of mosquitoes. Additionally, for some reason there are waymore weeds this year compared to last year. Their seeds must... read more »

Summer Brief: Plague Doctor

Plague Doctor Recently I was in HobbyCraft and found a new promotional table with Molotow productson(The orange pens below), I decided to buy a few pens as they look pretty decent, although slightly expensive, to draw with because the nibs areinterchangeableso with the same pen I can create many widths oflines. The Age of Genius.

The Jungle Book Trip

THE ULTIMATE BLOG CHALLENGE DAY 19 March 2011, my team at office decided to go for a trip to Kanha National Park, Madhya Pradesh. The trip ended up being on of the most memorable ones I have ever had, of course, because of the tigers we spotted but also because we did lot of pre-planning before the trip. As it was a safari to the jungles which inspired out very own Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, we decided to have a Jungle Book theme for our trip. We started off by choosing a character from the story... read more »

An early start to the weekend

Today is one of those busy weekends when everyone has something planned (except for me, hah!) Safa left home before 7:30am for day two of a debate tournament in another high school in the area. Last night it was after 10:30pm when she got home. Hopefully today she will be back during daylight hours. She likes to stay with her friends to watch the awards, regardless if she qualifies for quarter or semi-finals.And Hamza was at his school by 7:30 too. Photography and the Artist

Tips #2 - How to use paint tester pots most eff...

We spoke to our lovely landlady the other day and have gotten permission to re-paint. Hurrah! As you can imagine we hurried out to the nearest hardware store and bought tester pots of all the paint colours we had narrowed down and brought them home. It was only when I turned my back on the Big Guy for 2 minutes and came back to find him about to paint a big square on the kitchen wall that I realised not everyone knows my hand-dandy way of making the best use of your tester pots. I dont care if youve seen... read more »

I was so inspired by the Apple iPod Advertising Campaign featured the dark silhouetted characters against bright-colored backgrounds with white standing out iPods.
