Tricks for a Sun-Kissed Summer Glow

It seems we have fast tracked into summer with sunny and hot days already here. Since I am a skin cancer gal, I am NOT able to lay out in the sun or get any color from the sun. Basically the sun hates me. But the problem is I love having color and getting aRead more The post Tricks for a Sun-Kissed Summer Glow appeared first on Nina Bradley Clarke. read more »

Do you ever wake up and know your hair is clean but it looks something like a wad cotton candy? This happens to me more than I care to admit. Here are my (hair) issues; •I am not a natural blonde (more like a natural taupe) and have been bleaching my hair white blonde (or as close as humanly possible for 10 years). •My hair is fine but abundant. read more »

Review: Mamma Chia Organic Chia Granola Cluster...

Let me introduce you to my new favorite snack foods. Mamma Chia Organic Vitality Bars and Organic Chia Granola Clusters are so deliciously fantastic. They're both packed with heart healthy chia seeds, healthy fats, and plant-based protein. They're also all organic, gluten-free, and made with 100% whole grains in the case of the granola (the bars aren't grain-based). Want omega-3 fatty acids (a whopping 1000mg of them) in a sweet, chocolatey, delicious and portable snack?Mamma ChiaVitality Bars have ... read more »

French Toast Sticks

Do you want some this? NODo you want to have a sandwich? NODo you want to try some banana? NO....This was almost every meal time once Inga was around 18+ months.Once your child starts to eat real meals and doesn't live off of random shit thrown in front of them it can be a bit jarring. I know, for me, it was a bit of a transition between that time when I just let her "play" with her food and gave her lots of choices, to switching to giving her real food that really she needed to start eating.I don't thin... read more »

Artful clock incorporates ferrofluid

A blend between art, nature, and technology, this clock displays time by magnetically manipulating ferrofluid, nano-engineered metal holding particles suspended in a carrier solvent. The clock, called Ferrolic, was created by master student Zelf Koelman at the department of Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology. He researched the technology and interaction for a year before being able to create the beautiful dynamics he was looking for. He envisions an additional app in order to customi... read more »

Recipe Revival: Healthy Lavender Almond Cupcakes

A few months ago, I was at an event where Batter Up! Cakes mini cupcakes were being served. There were a ton of amazing-looking flavors, but I couldnt take my eyes off of a lavender cake with cream cheese frosting. Sprinkled with pieces of dried lavender, it was as beautiful as it was delicious. And [] The post Recipe Revival: Healthy Lavender Almond Cupcakes appeared first on In Pursuit of Simple. read more »

Homemade Fertilizer

Spring is here. A lot of us, like me, love to garden. I especially love to garden vegetables. A freshly picked tomato off the vine is sweeter and a lot more delicious than anything you will buy at the store. Plus it’s organic and locally grown. One key component to gardening is fertilizer. It can get expensive. However you can make it for pennies with scraps found in your kitchen. Although I took chemistry and biology courses in college most of this information is from research online and my own pers... read more »

Exclusive Pumpers: Never Give Up! Never Surrender!

Breastfeeding can be hard. Exclusively pumping can be hard. I get it. But try...just try. I am sure that you wouldn't be reading the blog if you weren't planning on trying or did and you get high fives!I pumped for 13 months and I will say that I am extremely proud of myself. I breastfed for the first month but we were just having issues latching on and I was pumping at the same time to get my supply going and pumping just kind of took over. A Healthier Alternative to Childhood Cookie Fav...

Growing up, I loved Fig Newtons - loved. I also was a huge fan of Nutrigrain bars. While either of those is fine as a now and then treat, they aren't really a daily indulgence. Both are full of refined flour of and overly processed ingredients.I was delighted to discover a snack that was every bit as delicious as the fig and jam-filled bars of my childhood, but whole grain, all-natural, vegan, non-GMO, and kosher. Not only do Nature's Bakery Fig Bars have all those health benefits over the fig bars I grew... read more »

SquareBars Review

I love protein bars - they're convenient, often tasty (I have a total weakness for chocolate flavored ones), and provide muscle-fueling vegetarian protein! For vegans, howver, there are far fewer good protein bar options. Most bars use whey protein, have milk in their chocolate coating, or both. Luckily for vegans, there's a new all vegan protein bar that's been blowing up in popularity lately. The icing on the cake (coating on the protein bar?) is that part of the profits from the purchase of Squ... read more »

Messe Familie & Heim: Beanarella Kaffee

Kaffeekapsel-Automaten sind gerade total in. Die kompakten Maschinen versprechen ausgezeichneten Geschmack. Leider entstehen dabei Unmengen an Müll. Glutino- A Gluten Free Snack That Doesn't Suck

I recently had the opportunity to work with Glutino and I jumped all over that like a fat kid on cake or, more so, a pleasantly plump lady on an organic chocolate and banana bar.... Everyone is afraid of "gluten free" at first and, if you aren't someone who shied away from the label, or felt bad for anyone who had to adhere to it, congrats- you are a miraculous minority! Although the health benefits of eliminating gluten are widely known, I will readily admit that I do not typically purchase anything "g... read more »

How to Add Superfoods to Your Day (The Yummy Way!)

Swimsuit season may be over, but being healthy and feeling good are never out of season! As we head into the holiday season, many of us are looking for ways to stay healthy despite the diminishing availability of fresh fruits and veggies.Okaaaaaaaay, so maybe September isn't really heading into the holiday season - but I know that I, for one, have already started with the Christmas movies!Anyway, remember this preview that I teased you with at the beginning of last week? Have Your Cookies And Eat Them Too

Back to school is well underway - or rather, almost forgotten by now in face of the return of routine - and it's finally starting to feel like autumn. There are lots of wonderful things about fall and winter and the advent of the holidays. But they aren't exactly known for helping with health goals! Spring and summer are all about eating right and getting fit, but fall and winter, with the holidays and colder weather, are more about comfort foods and coziness. It's like: But too much of that and you feel ... read more »

Deserving Thyme Deserves Your Time

Hi all! I have some very interesting, incredibly different goodies to show you today and they arrived at my doorstep courtesy of Deserving Thyme, a Canadian based company that strives to bring a healthy approach to body care to the masses. I waited for the parcel with a bit of skepticism, as I had not used aromatherapy roll-ons previously and was not sure that I would like them. This is the first fragrance oil roll-on that I tried, called Be Sweet, and I was pleasantly surprised; These little, organi... read more »

Thieves Oil, not just for sexy massages!

Hi, my name is Alysia and I am an addict.I have only just recently come to the conclusion that I am hopelessly, utterly addicted to thieves oil.I discovered Marseille's Remedy Traditional Thieves Oil via the Still Eagle shop because it appears that Deb, from the store, has a knack for sending me things to review that I end up loving. I had heard of it before, I've used components of it previously, and I was most definitely open to trying thieves once I smelled it as a complete formula. The scent is quite... read more »

Back to School: Rock the Lunchbox

We loveback to school in our house. It's one of our favorite times of the year, back to school shopping almost gets us as excited as that first Christmas movie in August November! It's not hard to find cute school supplies (though it is an ueber-Bummer that C's fourth grade class does the 'communal school supplies' thing, so we can't get all her all pink glitter everything).A little harder than finding a cute backpack, however, is finding a lunch that pleases both mom (aka: the nutrition concerned one) an... read more »

Intelligent Nutrients, Not Just for Geniuses.

Hey you! Glad to see you on the page and here's what I have to show you today, my find of the season; This is the Intelligent NutrientsBug Repellent Perfume Spray, which I was sent to review, and I was absolutely thrilled with this product for a variety of reasons. I have been hunting around for an organic bug repellent for ages and had either very little luck with effectiveness or an oily, stinky and poor experience. My homemade mosquito repellent, admittedly, did not work nearly as well and was not a... read more »

A Wild Soapbar; B. Y. O. B.

I came across Wild Soap while doing some research for My Domestic Dish and, lucky for me, the company consented to sending me some natural handmade soap bars for review, on the house. I say, "On the house" while thinking of Maggie Hanus, the owner of the company. Her title in the family company is "soap bartender" and I found that rather endearing. I sat there thinking for a second about a sad scene, with some lowly guy shambling up to the bar and telling Maggie all of his woes, while she slides across t... read more »

Organic Lip Balm from Still Eagle

The lovely Still Eagle store in British Columbia, Canada, sent me this organic chapstick for review and I could not be happier! Now, upon first glance, they really do not look like much. Then again, nothing in an itty-bitty tube of this nature brings a great impact to the table; Now, I know it's not Hoo-ah but Hurraw, yet I still found myself saying it like Al Pacino; Sourced from; http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ly88miQzwR1rnnqsgo1_250.gif From then on, this review became a heck of a lot more ... read more »

Green Yums Review: Bringing The Farm To The City

I've been living in NYC for almost two months now and all-in-all, I loveit.I love big cities and small towns. I love convenience and constant access. I love writing, fashion, crunchy-granola vegetarian food, and acting. Guess where the most auditions are outside of LA (and the only audition-heavy place with a great public transit system)? It's not a surprise that I chose NYC for my first post-grad home! There are just a few things I don't love: mobs when I'm trying to walk around, slow walkers, the high c... read more »

Tea Bird, a review

Good afternoon- and here is an adorable logo for you to "awh" at! It's the weekend and, as a result, I have been drinking plenty of tea! I was able to sample all of these specific ones over the last couple of weeks but my brew today prompted me to post about them. The Tea Bird Company was kind enough to send me their sample pack for review and this is what it looks like; At first glance, I love the simplistic branding and the titles of the various blends, as well as the fact that each includes it's... read more »

Feeding our kid in public - The Battle rages on

Inga just turned 9 months this past Sunday, so she has been eating solid foods for about 3 months now.Who knew that feeding your kid had the potential for such disagreement with other parents. It started out great, just like my previous post had shown, with a great video of her first time eating some banana and just loving it. That continued for a couple weeks. We only had her eat once a day as to not overwhelm her stomach. As you can see from the video it was very telling of what was to come in the nex... read more »
