8 Things You Need To Start Container Gardening

I looked everywhere. Collar greens, peppers, and tomatoesin containers. Lucky for me, a local flower shop was giving away vegetable plants. I missed the first day of the giveaway. I was able to go the very next morning after picking my daughter up from summer school. Customers were able to grab as many ve... read more »

Preparing A Garden Tire For Planting

Before the snow started to fall in my area, I decided to prepare an old tire as a garden. The tire is not good to use on a vehicle anymore. It was given to me for free. Tires make a great place to garden. I plan to plant some flowers or a rose bush here. I have not decided yet. My preciousgrandson was over for a little while. I was babysitting him. Look at those big beautiful eyes. I love looking into his eyes. They are so dreamy and make me fall deeper in love. My grandson was a big help in helping m... read more »

Working In The Garden

A year ago I was having a dilemma of what to do with the area under the tree. I wanted to take the area underneath my tree. Right here and move it. As nothing can grow very well. Except weeds. As the tree shades the area to much. I wanted to remove the wood border and move it to the other side of the yard by the fence. I know the extradirt over time will slide down to the back of the yard. As the backyard towards the back of the fence fills with water every time it rains. Til we can get the time to move ... read more »

Homemade Fertilizer

Spring is here. A lot of us, like me, love to garden. I especially love to garden vegetables. A freshly picked tomato off the vine is sweeter and a lot more delicious than anything you will buy at the store. Plus it’s organic and locally grown. One key component to gardening is fertilizer. It can get expensive. However you can make it for pennies with scraps found in your kitchen. Although I took chemistry and biology courses in college most of this information is from research online and my own pers... read more »

Flowered.

How Has Your Garden Grown?

In early 2009 I wrote this. Why recycle things? Because some times our revisit of history reveals things. At least it does for me. Five vegetables to grow in pots

If you want to grow vegetables but don't have any ground to grow in, there are still plenty of ways you can grow your own food. From barrels, to hanging packets, plastic pots and poly sacks we've pretty much tried it all in our attempt to grow a kitchen garden. Container gardening is kind of mandatory for us. Our private garden is a mass of concrete, what isn't concrete is owned by our chickens, who love pulling up plants especially edible ones. There are 2 things I want to find out. How well the plants will grow in these containers How long will the margarine tubs last Using a screwdriver I poked some drainage holes in the bottom of the tub. Find A Field And Put Gold In It
